Is Hijama good for black magic, evil eye and possession?
Cupping (Hijama) is a practice highly recommended by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ for many diseases that a person may suffer from:
Ibn Qayyim mentioned that the messenger of Allah (SAW) was cupped on his head when he was afflicted with magic and that it is the best of cures when Hijama i.e. cupping therapy is performed correctly.
Zaad al maad (4/125-126)
The Prophet ﷺ said: "Indeed the best of remedies you have is Hijama…" (Bukhari)
The Prophet ﷺ also said that on the night of Al-Israa wal-Mi-raaj (his ascension to the heavens), he did not pass by an angel except that it was said to him, "Oh Muhammad, order your nation with Hijamah. (Tirmidhi)
The Prophet ﷺ said, "If there was something excellent to be used as a remedy then it is cupping." (Abu Dawood & ibn Maajah).
It was narrated that ‘Aisha ra said ''A spell was put on the prophet Muhammad (SAW) until he imagined that he had done a thing when he had not done it. One day he made du’a' then he said: “Do you know that Allah has shown me in what lies my cure? Two men came to me and one of them sat at my head and the other at my feet. One of them said to the other, ‘What is ailing the man?’ He said: ‘He has been bewitched.’ He said: “Who has bewitched him?’ He said: ‘Labeed ibn al-A’sam.’ He said, ‘With what?’ He said: ‘With a comb, the hair that is stuck to it, and the skin of pollen of a male date palm. He said: ‘Where is it?’ He said, ‘In the well of Dharwaan.’” The prophet Muhammad (SAW) went out to the well, then he came back and said to ‘Aisha Ra when he came back: “Its date palms are like the heads of devils.” I said: “Did you take it out?” He said: “No. Allah has cured me, and I fear that that might bring evil upon the people.”
What Is Ruqya?
Allah has given sickness but he has also given us the cure for it. Our job is to make sure we research where and who we go to for Ruqya and that they are Authentic. Unfortunately many people have turned this into a business or a show where its all a act to earn a following for their business. You must also understand just because you react to recitation does not always mean that you are afflicted with black magic, evil eye etc.
Prophet (ﷺ) said:
“Never a believer is stricken with a discomfort, an illness, an anxiety, a grief or mental worry or even the pricking of a thorn but Allah will expiate his sins on account of his patience”.
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
What is the treatment?
Quran is shifa for all things, when listening to recitation it should not cause any pain, discomfort or uneasy emotions. If one feels any such negative or abnormal feelings like headaches, sickness, pain, movements while listening to it than the advice is if it is caused to a human by Jinns. The same as if any medical treatments to diagnose what it is, the cause for it and what had caused it. So when you go for Ruqya the practitioner will try to find out the reason behind it. If its evil eye (can be done intentionally or unintentionally), black magic (when someone goes to a sorcerer to ask for bad on another) or possession where the Jinn may have entered the person.
Once they can figure out which one of these it could be the practitioner will offer a remedy that tackles it. If the sickness was caused by the evil eye, he will use a remedy that deals with the evil eye. If by black magic than to tackle black magic and if by Jinn entering than how to remove that from you. In each case he will use the appropriate treatment suitable for your sickness.
